In today’s world, we work hard or need to work hard to stay current. We can even get ahead by knowing what old skills, knowledge and ideas should be abandoned.
This means we must push back against mediocrity and sameness.
Here are three things you can build in to your personal growth plan:
1. Become convinced that wherever you are today was just to prepare you for a better tomorrow. Really build on this belief. It will not come automatically. You must work on it day after day.
2. Accept that yesterday is over and the ideas of yesterday have served their purpose. Old ideas will not produce new results. You can develop new, inspiring ideas if you invest time thinking about where you want to be one year from now.
3. Because your higher purpose is going to pull you forward, take time to develop new ideas and define what you most want to create for the business, accounts, the team, customers, and most importantly, yourself.
All three of these points assume that you want to contribute and add new value to your business. They also assume that you can probably offer at least 30% more value. It requires you to re-invent yourself based on what you have learned and witnessed over the past year or so.
Focus on one area of your work. Ask what change you could make that would upgrade and improve results, direction, or your future? What steps should you take now?
I hope that you will try this.
